Introduce yourself
I’m a talented 21 year old Hip-Hop individual that goes by the name of “Tha Rain”. My government name is Courtney Deshaun Sykes. I’m from the Southside of Minneapolis (MPLS stand up). I live music everyday. I wake up and I gotta write somthing.
How long have you been rapping and writing music?
I’ve been rapping and writting almost thirteen years now. I started with my friends Charlie and Aaron. We were in a group called The LBA’s (Lil Bad Asses).
Who are your influences and what inspires you to create music?
God! Without him I wouldn’t be where I am today. Also, my family, friends, and my beautiful love of my life girlfriend.
You have your first album coming out October 21, 2011, tell me about your inspiration for the album, Step Sons Revenge.
Two things; life and the music industry. I was mistreated by my step Mom as a child while my step-sisters experienced better treatment. Being an underground artist, you’re constantly proving yourself like a step-child would do. This is especially in Minnesota where Hip-Hop artists barely get help from the city besides radio stations like 89.9FM KMOJ.
How long did you work on creating Step Son’s Revenge?
It took me about a year with writing and recording.
What’s one of your favorite songs on the album?
All of them, but if I had to pick it’s between “Oh My God” and “Nite Falls”.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
When some one hangs up on me on purpose! I hate that haha.
What’s next for you?
Show, features, and grinding like a skater making songs with Big Quaters and I Self Devine. Actions speak louder than words so you will see.
Any last words?
