Rusko

with Doorly, Woody McBride and Jay “Strangelove” Tappe

With 3 stops left of the North America tour, Christopher Mercer, aka Rusko found him self preparing for one Minneapolis’s most memorable nights. Tonight Rusko leads the way for another 4/20 evening. Once a year crowds flock together for one night to join in on an evening of liquid highs and herbal camaraderie. Who better to control this circus than the mad man fron England, dubstep extraordinaire, Rusko. He was supported by Doorly, Woody McBride, aka DJ ESP, Jay “Strangelove” Tappe for an adventure of electronic advancement and diversity.

The show kicked off with substantial liquor sales and a masses collection of cheers and whistles. this kept doing as the night rolled on from artist to artist. Each supporting artist had something new to offer. With DJ Strangelove’s tried and true house and club tracks that breed nothing proven development. From his earlier days on the Minneapolis music scene to his plethora of samples and technique honed in from his years of traveling. Jay “Strangelove” Tappe is low key with a large crowd impact. This easily transfer in to the ambient tribal sounds of Woody McBride, aka DJ ESP. With his noticeable tempo and delivery shadowing what came before, but still built off the ground work that was established. with his use of of the equipment at his disposal and the state of mind the crowd was in caused the energy if artist and fan to merge. With the crowd immersed in to the moment their five senses were taken hostage by the experience. Dancing between sexual tension and chemical excitement to the industrial hip hop sounds of DJ ESP. With his use of Prodigy, Jay-Z, Missy Eliot, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog, DJ ESP gave the crowd something to sing along to as they danced in to the night.Yet every artist sampled the great Daft Punk’s Technologic. I has to wonder with the level of excitement that was built, was there any left for the Rusko.

Have you ever seen Big with Tom hanks and piano in the floor. Christopher Mercer, aka Rusko is exactly that. A man who entertains the world with fluid and precise body movement. He is a man whose energy can power room and whose music can move the world. I could brake down his dancing ability but Rusko never stopped moving. I could brake down his equipment choreography but Rusko didn’t draw out a sold out crowd on his programing abilities. I can tell you though that you don’t go to a Rusko show to hear you favorite track. You enter in the endeavor to get lost in the experience that it Rusko. On 4/20/11 was a night so special to the crowd and the entertainer it would be an experience on one would ever forget. With a light show as ego driven and Spastick as the artist at the helm, Rusko kept the energy at a high. Christopher “Rusko” Mercer knowledge of his equipment is startling. His ability to control multiple boards and produce such a unique sound is reason enough to listen. His ability to motivate and control a crowd is reason enough to find yourself a place on the dance floor. With a mixture of earlier, recent and even some new tracks, the crowd couldn’t stop cheering. With a encore as impacting as the show its self, Rusko ended with with the same intentions he started the show with. To Wake the F@#k UP!
