By my very nature I am a heavy metal guy, but I find myself at Epic for Jeezy and the Thug Invasion tour 2011. For those of you not in the Mpls area, it was hotter than Hell today; heat, humidity and a clear sky, the sweat inducing trifecta.

Upon walking into the wonderfully air conditioned Epic, the ladies are all decked out; skin tight leopard print, cleavage revealing satin, jewelry covered fingers and hair done up to dye for. I barely hit the staircase to go upstairs when I ran into an old co-worker I haven’t seen in over a year, nice to see ya D!

The DJ spinning sounds like Enferno but sure doesn’t look like him, not sure who it is. But the opener was Sam G accompanied by two other guys. They twisted out about 4-5 songs and were all done. The more people that roll in here, the harder the AC is having to work and you can really feel it.

The next act is Mr Minnesota. Comes storming out in an old school Twins shirt and a matching fishermans hat with the sales tag on it.. still. He came out with a sizable entourage but after the first song it dwindled down to two back up guys and the on stage video guy. His set has a lot of harmonic vocals on top of the rapping.

The last set before Jeezy is S.S.G. They came out literally sprinkling $1 bills on the crowd and the first three rows of people went completely ape nuts! I saw a scrawny dude trying to shove a BBW around in order to get a few bucks, no doubt the BBW whooped his ass, was pretty funny.

There was a pretty long delay between S.S.G. and Jeezy, like real long. It’s hot, sticky, but everyone is still grooving and shaking their asses. A fight broke out, didn’t see it real well but it looked like quite a few people involved. A swift blur of red security swooped in and took out a bunch of people, see that’s what happens when you throw down in the middle of club. In the meantime, Jeezy is taking his sweet ass time coming to the stage.

Just before he finally hit the stage about 1:20am, someone in the VIP booth spilled something and it showered down onto the crowd right in front of me, more than not simply wiped it off and kept dancing; like a refreshing blast of cool moisture. When Jeezy came out, the place erupted; arms flailing, cell phone cameras everywhere and not a quiet lady in the house. I can honestly say I wouldn’t be able to pick out a Jeezy song if my life depended on it, but the explosion of the crowd is an amazing show of respect for any artist.
