I realize that this bit of information is basically old news, but did you get a chance to check out Google’s Les Paul doodle? If not, never fear. Click here: here to play and record to your heart’s content.

Google put up the interactive doodle for Les Paul’s 96th birthday. It’s clever and fun to say the least. Don’t forget that not only can you scroll over the guitar strings to play, you can also use your keyboard for more pitches.

Below is a video of  a dude that recorded the bass line, rhythm guitar, and melody to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”. Nerdy? Oh yes. Fun? Even more so. If you’re looking for a little inspiration, go to YouTube and search for ‘Google Doodle Les Paul’ – I’m sure you’ll come across the good, the bad, and the really horrible recordings folks all over the world came up with…

Also a bit of older news, but oh well, here we go! On June 10th Jack White and Karen Elson

a positive swing bang hum dinger

announced their 6th anniversary!….And the fact that they’re getting divorced! Invitations went out to close friends and family so that they may attend and celebrate the beginning and end of the couples marriage.

Honestly, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I think it’s really funny and think it’s great that they’re ending their marriage on such a positive note. I mean, obviously they’re going their separate ways peacefully.

On the other, I have trouble thinking it’s funny to celebrate the end of a marriage during a time when so many couples are fighting for their right to get married at all… I’m not going to hop on a soapbox here, because I think you all know what I’m talking about… So I’ll just leave it at that… Anyway! The invites look sick as hell and I’m sure they threw a fantastic party. Happy (?) Divorce Jack & Karen!

A short awhile ago a friend of mine turned me on to a website called Jonk Music. New music is found, described, and posted daily. It’s a pretty fantastic resource for new music and you should check it out riiiiiiiiight  HERE. If you don’t… well, then you’re not only a new-music hater, but a fun hater too. No one wants that now, do they?

In other news, I saw on TheDailyWhat.com that the multitalented Mr. Justin Timberlake is one of the partners taking over the once-mighty-but-is-now-complete-crap MySpace. Timberlake was quoted here, saying “There’s a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers,

The dude can act, but I'd still rather hear him sing.

listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect.”

Though that may be true, I’ll be nothing less than shocked if MySpace EVER gets it’s reputation and functionality back.I mean, come on… I realize that Facebook had a lot to do with MySpace’s ultimate demise as a social media site, but MySpace kind of started screwing themselves over with the updates and changes and what the hell is My_____ or whatever it is now?

…Anyway, I have no shame whatsoever in admitting my love for Justin Timberlake as a musician and an actor. That being said, I do genuinely wish him and his business partners the best of luck on their endeavor to resurrect the prehistoric MySpace beast.

In closing, I leave you with this amazingly talented boy. I literally listened to 15 videos of his while I was trying to settle on which one to share with you. (Loosely translated, that means that the kid is awe-inspiringly talented and you should go check out his YouTube channel and also his website.) Not only is he an incredible player, but he also does his own arrangements of everything from the dreaded Pachelbel’s Cannon in D to Bruno Mars (not even kidding about that); not to mention the videos from 2006 when he’s playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Seriously, I think I just became this kid’s biggest fan.
