“No more time to fear, ’cause your life is over”

Bulldozer is a black and speed metal band that most people have probably not heard of unless your an old school metal head. Bulldozer originated from Italy in the 80′s but then disbanded in the early 90′s. Their last studio album Neurodeliri was released in 1988, now 23 years later, Bulldozer is BACK!

The upcoming Unexpected Fate is due to release June 2011 in the US. The album contains 10 new studio tracks plus 4 live bonus tracks. When I first listened to it, it was run of the mill black and speed metal; nothing caught my attention. However once I listened to it 3-4 times, the technical merit in the album really starts to shine through. So many speed and black metal bands have songs that are all very similar in style, but Bulldozer adds a slightly different feel to each track. The title track, “Unexpected Fate” opens with a melodic intro, then blasts into a fierce speed metal assault that re-introduces you to the strength that is Bulldozer. The vocals provided by Italian born Alberto Contini are quintessential black/speed metal. Some points in the songs it is very clear and the words are easy to understand while other times the growl peeks through and it’s very difficult to understand what he’s saying without searching for liner notes of lyrics.

All in all, this is a great black/speed metal album from a legendary band who is back and will hopefully not disappear again.
