Architect - Ghost of the Saltwater Machines

Architect is a hardcore/mathcore band. The whole mathcore genre has never really struck my fancy, most of the bands who do it have real inconsistent styles with an almost structured chaos kind of vibe, which doesn’t interest me much. Architect’s Ghost of the Saltwater Machines kind of curves that mold though, but doesn’t break it.

Most of the tracks are all pretty similar sounding which is a great sign of consistency of the style. Every once in a while they have a kind of hardcore/punk style by having group backing vocals as displayed in “Lamplighter”. The main vocals are aggressive and make my throat hurt just listening to them, not sure how Keith Allen does it, but the man must have vocal cords of iron.

All in all Architect is great and the genre may not be for everyone, but if you like this style of metal, this is a great album.
