Pierce the Veil interview with Jaime Preciado
by Amber Hartman – 2008
How has the Warped Tour experience been?
Warped Tour has been amazing. It’s our first time on Warped Tour and everyone in the band has always been fans of Warped Tour, so it’s been kinda like a dream for us to be on it. We’re from San Diego so it’s been a really big deal. Being a part of it and actually being on it, it’s amazing. It’s been just so much fun, plus you’ve got all your friends out here, it’s like one big summer camp.
How long will Pierce the Veil be on Warped Tour?
The whole thing. So, it’s definitely a summer camp with hard rock goodness.
What are your plans for after the tour?
After the tour, we get home and then we do our very first headliner right after the Warped Tour. It’s gonna be with us obviously, and a band called Breathe Carolina, Four Letter Lie, Amerosa, so it should be fun. We’re pretty excited.
Where does that tour kick off at?
I’m not sure exactly when or where it’s gonna start. I know it goes right after Warped Tour, we’re home for a little while, like a month-ish, maybe two months, then we just go right back at it. It will be a full U.S. tour. It will be fun, we’re super excited, plus the fact that we’ve toured with Four Letter Lie, and we know all the guys from Amerosa, so it should be a really, really fun tour.
What’s your favorite band on Warped Tour?
My favorite band on this tour? Actually, I have a lot of favorites. There’s a lot of good ones. What band that surprised me, actually they’re playing right now, Anberlin. I used to be a big fan of Anberlin, and watching them live everyday has made me much more of a diehard fan. I like them, they’re really, really good. Then there’s tons and tons of great bands on smaller stages this year, which is kinda cool. Normally people come to Warped Tour and they think they’re just hang out at the main stages all day, it’s not like that anymore. It’s like a lot of good bands all over the place, its spread out, so it’s kinda cool to see.
So, I heard you guys have some really awesome dance moves on stage…is that true?
(He laughs) I wouldn’t say dance moves. We have a good time, it’s more one of those things you kinda have to watch and see. YouTube just doesn’t cut it. No, but it’s fun and we definitely like to have a good time and we try to share that energy with the crowd. It’s been goring really well. Like I said it’s our first time playing Warped and the response has been phenomenal. We’ve been touring for a year straight, so its kinda cool to see all the kids singing along, it’s been really cool.
What’s been your favorite city so far?
It’s hard to say. I wanna say San Diego, but we haven’t even been there yet, but that’s where we’re from. So far, I don’t know it depends. We had a great show yesterday in Chicago. Oh my God, Chicago was amazing. We had so much fun in Chicago, a lot of kids came out. And then you’ll have your random good shows like Scranton, PA. We’ve played San Antonio, Dallas, all those shows were really good for us. It just depends if the crowd is there. We always bring it, so we hope the crowd is there to have a good time.
What’s your favorite Pierce The Veil song?
Huh, I like playing track 9 on the record, it’s called Drella. It’s the first song we start out with. It gets the blood flowin’, gets the pace started. But they’re all fun to play.
I was listening to Beat It this morning?
That’s a fun one to play. Its fun to play, buts it’s such a simple song compared to the rest of them. You almost like forget you’re playing the song, so you have to kinda like do dance moves. Its kinda cool to watch, ‘cause we’re all kinda like playing the same exact thing. But no, that’s a fun song to play too, especially for kids. I noticed kids really, really dig that one. If you play anything Michael Jackson, people are gonna be like, alright.
